
The purpose of the celebration was to recognize the contributions of our forefathers who toil their blood to fight for political independence from the British colony. The durbar was also organized to commemorate Ghana’s Independence from British Colonial rule.
This year’s 66th Municipal Independence Day celebration was held at the R/C school Park, Yamfo. The theme for the year’s celebration was “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose”. The durbar was held on Monday, 6th March, 2023 at Yamfo R/C School Park. The durbar was marked with a series of events which included a speech from MCE, cultural displays, poetry citations, march past by cadet corps and students/children. Presentations of awards were also made.


The Occasion was chaired by Nana Ansah Bonsu Adu Baah, Omanhene of Yamfo Traditional Council and President of Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs. In all 22 Basic Schools from the Yamfo Zone and all the 6 Senior High/Technical Schools together with their cadet corps were selected to partake in the march past. One thousand, and two hundred students and teachers took part in the event from the following communities; Yamfo, Duayaw-nkwanta, Techire, Bomaa, Assen, Atudrobesa, Ahyiaem, Rubi-Beposo, Asempanaye, Tano Ano among others. Some of the personalities who graced the occasion were the Municipal Chief Executive of Tano North Municipal Assembly, Chiefs from Afrisipa, Susuanso, and Tanoso communities, Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Hon. Presiding Member, Assembly members, Heads of Department, Staff of Tano North Municipal Assembly, the Security Services such as the Police, Prisons, Immigration, and many others.
There was also the presence of the following Groups; Market Women Association, Dressmakers and Tailors Association, Hairdressers Association etc.
