SENSITIZATION OF THREE COMMUNITIES ON DRUG ABUSE

On the 23rd April, 2024, an impactful education and sensitization program on drug abuse was carried out in three communities namely, Subrisu No.2, Mankraho and Baffokrom. The session aimed to address the causes, effects, consequences, and solutions to the growing issue of drug misuse in society.
Key Highlights of the Program

  1. Topics Covered:
    Causes of Drug Abuse: Peer pressure, lack of parental guidance, stress, and poverty.
    Effects of Drug Abuse: Physical and mental health issues, academic failure, and strained relationships
    Consequences: Addiction, crime, societal stigma, and loss of future opportunities.
    Way Forward: Building self-control, seeking help, avoiding risky peer groups, and promoting awareness.
  2. Interactive Demonstration with Flashcards:
    Flashcards were used to visually depict the stages of drug addiction, its harmful effects, and recovery pathways.
    Audience participated in identifying risks and solutions using the flashcards, making the session engaging and relatable.
  3. Engagement with Students:
    Open discussions allowed students to share their views and experiences.
    Role-play activities reinforced the dangers of drug misuse and encouraged informed decision-making.
  4. Call to Action:
    Parents and the communities at large were encouraged to serve as ambassadors of change by promoting a drug-free lifestyle within their communities.
    Impact:
    The program fostered a deeper understanding of drug abuse and empowered participants to train their wards on how to make informed choices. This sensitization program is a crucial step in combating drug misuse and its effects on youth, urging collective action for a healthier and safer society.
