The Tano North Municipal Assembly welcomed a delegation from the German Development Cooperation as part of efforts to assess and appreciate the impact of development interventions and partnerships within the Municipality.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Assembly to highlight the significant contributions of the German Development Cooperation towards strengthening good governance, accountability, citizen participation, and sustainable local development in Tano North.
During the engagement, the Assembly expressed its appreciation to Germany, through its funding and implementing agencies, for the continuous collaboration and support extended to the Municipality. The partnership has contributed significantly to strengthening participatory local governance and improving accountability mechanisms between the Assembly and its citizens.
A major intervention highlighted during the occasion was the establishment and strengthening of the Social Audit Committee (SAC). The Committee has become an important platform for promoting constructive engagement between citizens and the Assembly, particularly in areas of transparency, accountability, community participation, and monitoring of development projects.

Through the support of the PAIReD programme and MIHOSO, members of the Social Audit Committee have received training and capacity-building to effectively monitor the implementation of development projects, engage duty bearers, facilitate community participation, and provide constructive feedback towards improving service delivery.
The engagement further highlighted how the activities of the Social Audit Committee have helped strengthen trust between the Assembly and communities while encouraging citizens to take greater ownership of development initiatives within the Municipality.
The Assembly also acknowledged that regular interface meetings, community monitoring exercises, and evidence-based discussions have contributed positively to its planning and decision-making processes. Recommendations and concerns raised through the Social Audit Committee have provided useful feedback to the Assembly in responding to the needs and priorities of communities.
The visit therefore served not only as an opportunity to assess the impact of the interventions but also to strengthen the existing partnership between the Tano North Municipal Assembly, the German Development Cooperation, PAIReD, MIHOSO, and other stakeholders committed to promoting effective local governance and sustainable development.
The occasion ended with a renewed commitment to sustaining the gains made through the partnership and strengthening citizen participation, transparency, and accountability for the continued development of Tano North Municipality.
