THE REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY TOUR OF GHANA ARMED FORCES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE

As part of their study, the Ghana Armed Forces Command School paid a courtesy call to the Tano North Municipal Assembly to fulfil one of their obligations as students on an environmental tour to aid their research studies.

Amidst the solemnity of the occasion, the military delegation, adorned in crisp uniforms, was warmly welcomed by members of the Municipal Assembly lead by the Municipal Coordinating Director. The purpose of this visit was not only to express courtesy but also to reinforce the essential connection between the Armed Forces and the community they serve.

In turn, both parties engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the environment. The military officials provided insights into their ongoing initiatives related to community outreach, disaster response, and other areas where their expertise could be beneficial to the municipality.

During the meeting, the Municipal Coordinating Director on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive expressed gratitude for the Armed Forces unwavering commitment to national security and disaster relief. He again touched on some of the environmental problems which include; illegal mining activities, illegal logging, rapid extinction of some important animal species, collapse of fisheries, rising air and water pollution, rise in atmospheric temperature, thinning of ozone layer, spoiling rivers, seas and underground resources.

As the discussions unfolded, other speakers like the Ag. Municipal Environmental Officer and the District Manager of Forestry Commission expressed their disaffection about the increase deterioration of the environment. Both touched on the challenges they are facing and their successes. it became evident that this courtesy call was not merely a formality but a sincere effort to bridge the gap between the military and civilian spheres and the Armed Forces demonstrated a keen interest in understanding the specific needs and challenges faced by the Municipality signaling a commitment to working hand-in-hand with local authorities.The visit concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the shared commitment to collaboration and unity. The event served as a reminder that a strong and supportive relationship between the Armed Forces and local governance is paramount for the well-being and security of the entire community.

In the aftermath of this courtesy call, both the Ghana Armed Forces and staff college and the Tano North Municipal Assembly pledged to maintain open lines of communication and explore avenues for continued collaboration. The encounter not only strengthened the bond between these two vital pillars of society but also set the stage for a harmonious partnership that prioritizes the safety of the environment.
