


The purpose of the celebration was to recognize the contributions of our forefathers who toil their blood to fight for political independence from the British colony. The durbar was also organized to commemorate Ghana’s Independence from British Colonial rule.
The Occasion was chaired by Nana Sie Ampem Kwabeng II, Krontihene of Tanoso. In all 21 Basic Schools from the Tanoso Zone and all the 7 Senior High/Technical Schools together with their cadet corps were selected to partake in the march past. About One Thousand students and teachers took part in the event from the following communities; Yamfo, Duayaw-nkwanta, Techire, Bomaa, Tanoso and Susuanso.














Some of the personalities who graced the occasion were the Municipal Chief Executive of Tano North Municipal Assembly, Chiefs from Tanoso, Yamfo and Terchire communities, Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Hon. Dr. Gideon Boako, Assembly members, Heads of Department, Staff of Tano North Municipal Assembly, the Security Services such as the Police, Prisons, Immigration, and many others.
There was also the presence of the following Groups; Market Women Association, Dressmakers and Tailors Association, Hairdressers Association etc.
The Hon. MCE, Ernest Kwarteng expressed his delight in joining the patriotic citizens to observe the colorful and memorable occasion of the 67th Independence Day Celebration.
The MCE stated the theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride” was timely and carefully chosen to reflect our pride in the achievement of our collective effort in sustaining and maintaining democracy in the 4th Republican constitution of Ghana which is a pre-requisite for transformational development. He added that the various successive governments of Ghana have worked tirelessly to sustain our democracy through peaceful general election. ‘As a nation, we’re proud of sustaining our Democracy where individuals have the rights and freedoms, such as freedom of speech, association and expression’ he highlighted.
Again, he expressed the commitment of H.E. Nana Akuffo Addo led government to improve teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education at the pre-tertiary level with the aim of producing professionals to meet the 21st century skills requirement. He added the government has increased its investment in infrastructure for STEM education by commencing the construction of Ten (10) STEMS schools and centres across the country, with Seven (7) STEMS schools being operationalized. He therefore urged teachers and guardians to collectively support the government in its quest to improve upon the potentials as well as the talents of our future leaders.
He further remarked that the chieftaincy situation in the Municipality is posing a great security threat in terms of development and financial burden on the Assembly. He appealed to the revered traditional authorities or leaders to play their critical roles to help ensure peace.
In conclusion, the MCE thanked Newmont Ghana Gold Limited for supporting the Anniversary celebration and Nananom for their regular participation during national events.
