On Friday, 14th August 2026, the Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, joined the Tano North Municipal Assembly for a sod-cutting ceremony at Duayaw Nkwanta.
The ceremony marked an important step towards the construction of a 24-Hour Economy Model Market, a project intended to enhance commercial activities, create economic opportunities, boost local businesses and contribute to the overall development of the municipality.
The project forms part of the Government’s broader 24-Hour Economy initiative and its development agenda aimed at resetting the country and strengthening economic opportunities for citizens.
Present at the ceremony was the Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional Council, whose participation underscored the important role of traditional authorities in supporting development initiatives within the municipality. The ceremony also brought together officials of the Assembly, other stakeholders and members of the community to witness the commencement of this significant project.
In his submission on the state of the municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive also took the opportunity to address the general public on some of the major interventions being undertaken across Tano North. Particular emphasis was placed on efforts to strengthen the educational sector, with reference made to the new educational block constructed at Kotwe.
The MCE indicated that such interventions demonstrate the Assembly’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. The new facility at Kotwe is expected to improve access to quality education, enhance the learning environment for pupils and teachers, and contribute to the overall advancement of education within the municipality.
The MCE further reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to pursuing interventions across other key sectors to improve the living conditions of residents and ensure that communities throughout Tano North benefit from the municipality’s development agenda.
The developments highlighted reflect the continuing efforts of the Assembly, traditional authorities and other relevant stakeholders to address local needs and promote sustainable development across the Tano North Municipality.
