The Tano North Municipal office joined CHRAJ offices across the country to commemorate International Human rights day with the theme: “Childs Rights in Digital and Cyberspace in Ghana “. The office collaborated with charity FM (99.9MHz) in Duayaw Nkwanta to engage the public on the emerging challenges children face online, looking at the increasing use of digital platforms in communication, entertainment and most essentially education.
The purpose of the commemoration was to;
Encourage responsible digital parenting and reporting of violations
Raise awareness on online safety, cyberbullying, exploitation and data privacy
Educate parent, teachers, and young people on children’s rights in the digital era
Strengthen community understanding of CHRAJ roles in safeguarding child rights offline and online

On Friday 12th December 2025, charity FM held a live program with the district director of Tano North as the main resource person. The program also allowed listeners to call in and ask questions. Where a countable number of parent’s express concern about increased in children exposure inappropriate social media content. Key observation is that community knowledge of digital risks is still low.
Our discussions covered;
• Social media risk, exposure to harmful contents and cyberbullying
• Children’s rights under the constitution and the Children’s Act
• Responsible parenting and how to report abuse online to chraj and chraj mandates under the law
The radio programme had been very successful, individuals that listen in brought up issues and demonstrated their readiness to accept the change being preached. We recommend to management to consider giving support financially to future exercises of this nature. Doing so would reduce the deprivation we had to go through in having such exercise carried out.
The 2025 International Human Rights day commemoration in Tano North was a success, with charity FM enabling CHRAJ use their platform to reach a wide audience and highlight the growing importance of protecting children in digital space. The office remains committed in promoting the principles of human rights in Ghana
