On Saturday, 8th November 2025, a clean-up and health education program was organized at the Duayaw Nkwanta Market. The main objective of the exercise was to promote environmental cleanliness and educate market users on proper hygiene practices.
The exercise was carried out with active participation from the market women and the Environmental Health Officers.
Activities undertaken during the exercise included sweeping both inside and outside the market, cleaning the meat shop, cleaning of the market washroom and disposing of unwanted items and waste materials within the market premises. After the clean-up, a brief health education session was held to enlighten participants on the importance of maintaining good hygiene, proper waste disposal, and preventing sanitation-related diseases.
The program was successful, with strong cooperation from the market women and support from the Environmental Health team. Participants were encouraged to sustain the cleanliness of the market and make it a regular practice.
