SANITATION DAY EXERCISE HELD AT DUAYAW NKWANTA

The sanitation day exercise was organized as part of ongoing effort to promote environmental hygiene, public health and community participation in waste management.

The exercise aimed to mobilize community members to take active responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean and to reinforce the importance of maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment

Held on 13th September, 2025, the activity brought together various stakeholders including local government officials, opinion leaders, youth association, security personals media school. Market association. Participants engaged in activities such as sweeping street, desilting of drains, clearing of weeds, collection and transportation of waste, and sensitizing community members on proper waste disposal practices.

This initiative forms part of the broader campaign to reduce environmental pollution, prevent diseases outbreak, and encourage behavioral change towards a cleaner and healthier community. It also serves as an opportunity to foster unity, civic responsibility, and collaboration between community members and agencies in maintaining public cleanliness.

The theme for the exercise was ‘A Clean Duayaw Nkwanta, Our Responsibility’

The clean-up exercise at Duayaw Nkwanta was a commendable initiative that yielded positive results. It is therefore recommended that:

  1. More public education campaigns be conducted to sustain community involvement.
  2.  Additional logistics and funding be provided by the Assembly to support future clean-up activities.
  3. Sanitation by-laws are strictly enforced to discourage indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse.
  4. Involvement of Traditional Authorities and Assemblymen will motivate community members to participate massively
