SANITATION DAY EXERCISE HELD AT YAMFO

As part of the ongoing environmental sanitation drive across communities in the Tano North Municipality, a clean-up exercise was held at Yamfo on Saturday, 27th September 2025. The initiative was a follow-up to a similar successful event held earlier at Duayaw Nkwanta and aimed to address pressing sanitation challenges in Yamfo.

The involvement of key stakeholders, including the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department, community members, and the Yamfo Traditional Council, ensured strong local ownership and wide participation.

The exercise commenced early in the morning with community members, institutions, and traditional leaders working together at various locations across Yamfo. Activities included:

  • Desilting of gutters to improve drainage and reduce health risks.
  • Clearing of public spaces, markets, and walkways of refuse, weeds, and debris.
  • Weeding and cutting down overgrown vegetation in residential areas and public compounds.
  • Tree removal where branches or overgrowth posed danger to the public.
  • Cleaning and re-organizing of final refuse disposal sites, contributing to better waste management in the community.
